We think that Google Docs is great. While it’s an excellent platform for viewing and editing most files, there are some files that have been a challenge for Google Docs. Most of these file formats are Adobe files such as Adobe Illustrator (.ai), Photoshop (.psd) or Postscript files (.eps). The following files are now able to be viewed in a browser through Google Docs:
- Microsoft Excel (.XLS and .XLSX)
- Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 / 2010 (.PPTX)
- Apple Pages (.PAGES)
- Adobe Illustrator (.AI)
- Adobe Photoshop (.PSD)
- Autodesk AutoCad (.DXF)
- Scalable Vector Graphics (.SVG)
- PostScript (.EPS, .PS)
- TrueType (.TTF)
- XML Paper Specification (.XPS)
As usual, Google keeps getting better. The next step would be the ability to edit these documents in Google Docs. Stay tuned.
